Setting link expiry
Every export link in PublishFi has an expiry date. Once a link reaches that date it can no longer be used to download the video, even by someone who has saved the URL. Setting a sensible expiry helps you keep control over how long your content is accessible and is especially useful for time-sensitive reviews or deliverables with a fixed deadline.
Choosing an expiry when creating a link
Expiry is configured in the link creation form, in the Link Expires In section. You can choose from preset durations or enter a custom value.
| Preset | Duration | |--------|----------| | 1d | 1 day (24 hours) | | 3d | 3 days (72 hours) | | 1w | 1 week — the default | | 2w | 2 weeks | | 4w | 4 weeks | | Custom | You choose the number of hours |
The default selection is 1 week (168 hours). If you do not change this setting, the link will expire seven days after it is created.
Using a custom expiry
Select Custom and an input field appears. Enter the number of hours you want the link to remain active. The maximum allowed value is 672 hours, which is equivalent to 4 weeks. If you enter a number larger than 672, PublishFi will cap it at 672 hours automatically.
This option is useful when your workflow does not align neatly with the standard presets — for example, if you need a link that lasts 10 days for a specific review cycle.
Viewing expiry dates on active links
In the Active Export Links list, each link displays its expiry date as a badge alongside its other settings. This gives you a quick reference for when each link will stop working, so you can decide whether to create a replacement before the deadline passes.
What happens when a link expires
Once the expiry date is reached, the link stops working. Anyone who opens it will see that it is no longer available. To share the content again, create a new export link with a fresh expiry window.
Revoking a link before it expires
If circumstances change and you need to deactivate a link ahead of schedule, click Revoke on that entry in the Active Export Links list. The link is removed immediately and can no longer be used to download the video.
Tip: For client deliveries with a fixed deadline, set the expiry a few days beyond the delivery date. This gives you a buffer to confirm the client has successfully downloaded their files before the link disappears.
