Exporting your video

Exporting in PublishFi works differently from a traditional video editor. Rather than saving a file to your computer and then sharing it manually, PublishFi generates shareable download links — dedicated pages where clients, teammates, or stakeholders can grab the finished video themselves. You choose which platform formats to include, what quality level to render at, and how long the link stays active.

The export flow at a glance

Every export in PublishFi follows the same path:

  1. Click Share in the top-right corner of the editor toolbar.
  2. Switch to the Export tab and click Create Export Link.
  3. Select the platform formats you want to include and pick a quality level.
  4. Optionally add a password or set an expiry window.
  5. Click Create Link — the link is generated and copied to your clipboard instantly.

You can share that link right away. The recipient opens it and downloads the video in the formats you included.

Opening the Share panel

The Share button sits in the top-right area of the editor toolbar. Clicking it opens a popover with two tabs: Invite and Export. The Invite tab is for adding collaborators to the project itself. The Export tab is where download links are created. Select Export to get started.

Selecting platform formats

The link creation form lists all export frames configured for your project. Standard aspect ratios include Wide (16:9), Vertical (9:16), Square (1:1), Portrait (4:5), and Tall (2:3). Platform-specific presets include YouTube Post, YouTube Short, Instagram Reel, Instagram Story, TikTok Post, LinkedIn Post, Facebook Story, Threads Video, Pinterest Standard, Snapchat Story, Reddit Ad, Spotify Clip, and more.

Check the box next to each format you want to include. Use Select All to add every configured format at once. At least one format must be selected before the link can be created.

Choosing a quality level

Select from three quality settings:

  • Low — smaller file size, suited for quick sharing and preview links
  • Medium — a balanced combination of file size and visual quality, and the default selection
  • High — maximum quality and the largest file size, ideal for professional deliveries

The quality setting applies to every platform format included in the link.

Optional settings

Before clicking Create Link you can also set an expiry date (anywhere from 1 day to 4 weeks) or add a password to restrict access. Both are optional. Separate articles cover each in detail.

After the link is created

PublishFi generates the link, copies it to your clipboard, and adds it to the Active Export Links list in the Export tab. Each entry shows the platforms and quality included, whether the link is password protected, its expiry date, and a running download count. From the list you can copy any link, open it in a new browser tab, or revoke it entirely.

Tip: You can have multiple active export links for the same project at the same time. This is useful when you want to share one set of formats with a client and a broader selection with your production team — each link is tracked independently with its own download count.

What happens during rendering

When a download is triggered and the video needs to be processed — either because it has never been rendered or because the project was edited after the last render — PublishFi handles the job automatically. A progress indicator shows the current percentage and a time estimate, updating every few seconds. Once rendering is complete, the download starts without any additional action required.
